When I was in 1st grade the most important thing was recess, gym and lunch in that order and the rest of my time I would throw my pencil on the floor and wait for the teacher to walk by so I could look up her dress not because I knew what the hell I was looking for but because every other boy in the class did the same thing, peer presure begins at an early age. Now that I look back at my early preverted upbringing the only thing I do remember is that it I really couldn’t see a damn thing. Little did I know back then that an entire industry would be built around looking up a girls skirt.
Every media outlet and blog in existence has weighed in on Perez Hilton‘s tweet that linked to an up-skirt photo of Miley Cyrus. What ever is left of Perez conscience quickly deleted the tweet, so most of us have not actually seen it. But, apparently, Miley wasn’t wearing any underwear while she was exiting a car.
Miley Cyrus is a few months shy of turning 18 years old, so the moment she turns 18 your best believe that photo will magically reappear. I’m shocked that so many other people are shocked. While I would never condone child porn. Who knows better than the publicity machine that is Miley Cyrus. It doesn’t matter if Miley Cyrus is 18 or if she’s 81 years old. Don’t want your naked crotch photographed when you’re in a public space? Wear some damn panties. Do you honestly think they don’t know what they’re doing by not wearing underwear a la Britney, Christina, Paris, Lady Gaga. This is what these attention deprived celebrities do. Look at me, acknowledge me, look at my crotch, is it not spectacular? Maybe you haven’t noticed but American culture has substituted humiliation as entertainment. That’s what a nip slip or crotch shot is. It’s not an accident it’s by design. It’s not photojournalism; it’s a PR moment. When Kristen Stewart recently said that she feels like she is looking at someone being “raped” when she looks at paparazzi photos. Her sentiment is lost among her peers. If Miley or Kristen or Britney or any of those other trainwrecks want to pose with their panties off and nipples hanging out the pop culture we tolerate will justify it by saying celebs were “asking for it” with their fame and like a battered victim of celebrity you might just think this is the paparazzi’s fault and this time your only half right.
