U.K. FASHION INVASION
Las Vegas, Nevada – Cult British high-street style champions TOPSHOP and TOPMAN open their 3rd American flagship store next March 2012 in Fashion Show Mall, Las Vegas.
The store will comprise of 20,000 sq ft retail space on a single level, with a dramatic 180 foot frontage, to be created by incorporating four current stores and part of the existing mall. The sleek design will host the latest key trends across both womens and menswear, with a host of signature departments showcasing the best the two brands have to offer. It is estimated that more than 170 staff will be employed to give customers the ultimate in personal service and fashion advice.
Since it launched in 1964, TOPSHOP has become a major style authority and one of fashion’s biggest success stories. With a rich heritage in street culture, TOPSHOP is a cultural icon and has become synonymous with British fashion. TOPSHOP began life as Peter Robinson’s Top Shop, a young fashion brand in the basement of the former department chain, Peter Robinson Ltd. The first stand-alone TOPSHOP store was opened in 1974.
In 1994, the TOPSHOP flagship store was born as the brand took over a 90,000 sq ft space at London’s Oxford Circus. It remains there today, and is widely considered to be the world’s largest fashion store on the high street, attracting over 200,000 shoppers each week. In 2005, TOPSHOP showed its own in-house designed collection, Unique, as part of the official London Fashion Week schedule. The only high-street brand to show on schedule, Unique’s witty approach to style has caught the attention of fashion industry insiders and consumers alike. 2012 will see the tenth anniversary of TOPSHOP’s sponsorship of the NEWGEN scheme, which has nurtured an impressive roster of young designers over many seasons of London Fashion Week. A pioneer of designer collaborations, TOPSHOP is well known for it’s partnerships with London fashion talent, including Christopher Kane, Meadham Kirchhoff, Hussein Chalayan, Richard Nicoll and David Koma. In addition, the Boutique collection offers reworked future classics in luxurious fabrics with a focus on style rather than seasonal trends. All this sits alongside TOPSHOP’s trend-driven mainline, which includes footwear, accessories, an extensive selection of denim and jewellery.
A key innovation in the store will be TOPSHOP Make Up. Tapping into a wealth of existing knowledge on the hottest colour trends, the TOPSHOP design team were able to develop a directional and unique way of approaching colour in cosmetics. Drawing from their day-to-day work creating colour palettes for TOPSHOP’s collections, this knowledge was applied to the fashion-forward colour range of TOPSHOP Make Up.
TOPMAN has earned its sartorial stripes with an unswerving, energetic approach to producing truly exciting high-street men’s fashion. Driving trends forward while shifting the way men approach shopping, the Brand’s attitude to creating brilliant, affordable and authoritative menswear is second to none.
Born in 1978, TOPMAN is the male equivalent of successful stable-mate, TOPSHOP. With 215 stores in its native Britain, almost every high street in the country boasts its very own slice of TOPMAN. London’s mega Oxford Circus flagship – one of several chief stores in the major cities throughout the UK – sees over 75,000 pairs of feet storm its two floors every week.
