Arizona based band, Peachcake, featured on MTV’s The Challenge: Battle Of The Exes
Any fan of the electronic pop, dance band, Peachcake, knows the guys are a fun, colorful bunch who have a sunny musical outlook and a do-it-yourself work ethic. This week the band’s hard work paid off when their single “You Matter” was featured on MTV’s The Challenge: Battle Of The Exes. “You Matter” is also currently in rotation on several Top 40 stations throughout California, Vermont, Arkansas, Nevada, and Arizona, with other markets soon to join.
“I think it’s pretty uplifting, rad, and nostalgic which is the kicker,” says lead singer Stefan Pruett about the single “You Matter”. Pruett originally wrote the song as a tribute to his late younger brother, Alex, with the chorus “I will always love you” in his memory. “The song is about the two of us growing up in a small town and wanting to make a difference on a larger scale in the world.” Pruett says. Since it was released on the EP, This Wasn’t Our Plan, the track has evolved to become an anthem for inspiring fans and listeners to follow their dreams.
Their recently released video for “You Matter” is a perfect reflection of the band. The music video, written and directed by a fellow high school friend of Pruett’s, Bud Bennett of Image Armory, a company based in Los Angeles, included kids from Pruett’s high school, who had the opportunity to be cast in Peachcake’s video-within-a video.
“[I hope people feel] they can recapture that youthful exuberance– how they felt when they were growing up. And, if they feel they’ve lost it, that they feel again the inspiration to go out and do something fun and awesome, even when the odds, the money, the time, and life feels against them in some way,” Pruett says about You Matter’s music video.
Peachcake will work to win over even more fans this month when they play at this year’s Red Gorilla Music Festival in Austin during South by Southwest weekend. In addition to opening for Electric Guest on select dates of their tour, the band will perform at this year’s Slottsfjell festival in Norway alongside Wolfmother, Sondra Lerche, Noah and the Whale, Chase and Status, and Janelle Monae before heading to Portugal to do a series of shows out there.
