This week, the closed-door security at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City wasn’t for U.S. President Barak Obama, but rather 10 year old Khanbolat Nazarbayev, nephew of the President of Kazakhstan, who was celebrating his 10th birthday party at the hotel. His older brother is set to marry the daughter of the Prime Minister of Malaysia next week.

The First Lady of Malaysia was present and raised a toast to the 10 year old. Also in attendance was a who’s who of Russian New Yorkers, including: Jacob the Jeweler, Russian oligarch Igor Krutoy (who in 2011 purchased a $48 million condo at the Plaza which at the time was the highest price for a single unit), U.N. Ambassadors, uber-Russian lawyer, Edward Mermelstein, as well as a slew of others.
